For many diehard Donald Trump supporters, releasing all the Epstein files was high on their list of priorities.
It’s a promise Trump (and Vice President Vance) never shied away from on the campaign trail. He was quick to claim he’d happily release all the information the federal government had about Epstein — every shred of evidence, every document, every photo.
Friday was the deadline to do so, according to an act passed by Congress.
Well, that deadline has come and gone.
And while some documents and photos were released — they were heavily redacted. (Of course, some editing is needed to protect victims.) They even had the nerve to delete some after release.
It’s no secret why.
Trump himself, along with his billionaire cronies, appear throughout those files.
Trump’s Justice Department is trying to hide all evidence tying him to the world’s most prolific pedophile. And even many diehard MAGA followers are disgusted.
In my years in MAGA, and my years since leaving MAGA, I’ve never seen a moment quite like this one.
Republicans and Democrats have our disagreements — but one thing we can agree on is our disgust for Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.
And to see such a blatant attempt to interfere with the process of justice is disturbing as hell, for many, many people. Even people who may have trusted Trump up until this point.
Anyone who is not tied to these crimes wants to see justice done here.
They don’t want any more black bars over names and images, protecting the abusers and ensuring that the rich and untouchable once again escape accountability to carry out these kinds of crimes on more women and children.
It’s clear that Trump wants to hide the truth about his ties to Epstein’s child abuse ring. That’s a bridge too far for many, many people.
It’s horrible that this moment is what it took for many people to see the light — but this moment is bringing the whole truth about Trump out of the shadows.
He is a man without morals, and without conscience. A man who harms others, preys upon the vulnerable, and will do anything to protect himself.
It’s never been more clear.
It’s critical that we reach people today, in this moment of shock.
