Trump just said this about canceling the midterm elections

Donald Trump may be about to subvert the 2026 midterm elections — he said so himself.

Earlier this week, far-right host Wayne Allyn Root suggested to Trump that he could declare a national security emergency to seize control of the elections. Trump refused to rule it out.

“Because it’s so hard to get the Senate to do anything,” Root told Trump, “they don’t get anything done. If they never get the SAVE America Act done, you have the right to declare a national security emergency for elections.”

He went on to outline what this anti-democratic idea would entail.

“If you declare a National Security Emergency… we will get photo ID, proof of citizenship, and a limit to mail-in ballots.”

In other words, massive voter suppression across the entire country.

Trump’s reply?

“Let me just say this, that stranger things have happened, OK? I’ll leave it at that.”

This is a five-alarm fire, folks.

HELP SOMEONE LEAVE MAGA BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE

The SAVE America Act hasn’t passed the Senate — even with Republicans in control — because its restrictions are onerous by design.

It would eliminate online voter registration.

In 45 states, a driver’s license alone would not be sufficient to register to vote, nor would a REAL ID. In most states, you would need to present either your birth certificate along with a photo ID or a US passport — a document many Americans do not possess — to register to vote.

Republicans know the effect of this law would be massive disenfranchisement.

Now that it hasn’t passed, Trump is scrambling. This new solution being floated — the idea of a national emergency, where Trump simply declares that Voter ID is the law of the land — is even more dangerous.

Trump isn’t improvising here. Root previewed this plan weeks earlier on Steven Bannon’s podcast, suggesting Trump use a fake China “election interference” story as a pretext to declare a national emergency and impose the SAVE Act’s restrictions without congressional approval.

Plenty of MAGA voters don’t have a passport and rely on the option to vote by mail. Trump himself has voted by mail in the past.

But the same people orchestrating this plot are also the ones telling their audiences that the SAVE Act “protects” their right to vote.

Here at Leaving MAGA, we are the bridge that connects MAGA voters with real information about what’s going on within the movement.

We’ve been where they are now. I know exactly how persuasive Trump can be — he had me for years. But I also see, up close, how dangerous he is.

Our work has never been more urgent. Trump is becoming increasingly authoritarian, and we’re on the ground and splashed across billboards right now, reaching people inside the MAGA movement before he can act on this.

Can we count on you to contribute $10, $25, $50, $100, or any amount today to help us reach even more people before November?

Thanks for being with us on this odyssey,

Rich
