Yes, the nation’s top intelligence official — whose job is protecting America from foreign threats — helped raid a county election office.
The affidavit justifying the warrant is sealed. The FBI seized 2020 ballots, tabulator tapes, and voter rolls.
Fulton County officials say they no longer have control over the security of these ballots and data.
Right after the raid, Trump shared posts pushing debunked election conspiracies to rile up his base for what’s coming.
The conspiracy Trump’s pushing involves Barack Obama, the CIA, the FBI, China, military satellites, and Italy, somehow working together.
This week, the DOJ also demanded Minnesota’s voter rolls — another state Trump lost.
We have nine months until the midterm elections. And Trump is already testing what he can get away with.
As someone who used to be deep in MAGA, I can tell you exactly what this is — he’s trying to make the lies so big and crazy that his base will believe he’s justified in doing anything to “fix” it. It’s another betrayal by Trump.
When a reporter asked what Tulsi Gabbard was doing at an election center in Georgia, Trump said, “She’s working very hard on trying to keep the election safe. And she’s done a very good job. And they got into the votes with a signed judge’s order in Georgia, and you’re going to see some interesting things happening.”
Let’s be clear about what is happening: This is a test run for the midterms in nine months.
If Trump can raid Fulton County and seize ballots now, what’s to stop him from doing it in November if Republicans lose? The precedent is being set that Trump and MAGA can lose elections, seize the ballots, and declare victory anyway.
New cracks are forming every day, and Trump voters on the edge are questioning Trump’s authoritarian overreach, especially after what they’ve seen in Minneapolis.
Some folks just need to know there’s a way out.
