Recently, I sat down with Rick Wilson of The Lincoln Project — and I’ll be honest, my former MAGA self never saw that coming. When I was deep inside MAGA, The Lincoln Project was public enemy number one. Traitors. Sellouts.
We despised them for abandoning the Republican Party over Trump.
Well, a lot has changed since then. I was so very wrong.
Here’s what we talked about:

WATCH THE LINCOLN PROJECT INTERVIEW
Now that I’m out of MAGA, I have profound respect for what they’ve been building since the early days of Trumpism.
I’m proud to say that the feeling is mutual. The Lincoln Project has a deep interest in the work Leaving MAGA does and the expertise we bring.
We did cross that bridge, and we know what’s on the other side.
That’s what Rick Wilson and I talked about — what drew people in, including me, and what’s driving people away today.
“There’s nothing the President will not lie about,” I told him. And that reality, from tariffs to the war in Iran to the Epstein files, is a door we can open.
Once people realize they’ve been lied to on one subject — say, the Epstein files — that’s it. A crack in one wall can bring down the whole thing. Suddenly, they’re wondering what else they’ve been lied to about.
When I talk to someone who’s ready to leave, I ask them to do three things: name the lies, own what they did, and help build something better. That’s the whole deal.
That’s what this community is. People who came out the other side and decided to build something instead of just being angry.
It’s not enough to help folks leave the movement. We do so much more: Our work gives people more than freedom from Trump’s lies — it gives them purpose, fellowship, and hope for the future.
The feedback we get tells us we have to keep going.

Every dollar we raise goes directly toward finding the next person who’s one conversation away from getting out. We are taking back the people MAGA stole. One at a time.
Thanks for being with us on this odyssey,
