The Republican Party has made a seemingly odd decision: to hold a National Midterm Convention.
Typically, party conventions are held only during Presidential election years.
So why break with tradition now?
You already guessed it — this has nothing to do with strategy and everything to do with Trump’s ego and his party’s addiction to your money.
Even Republicans are calling it what it is. The RNC chair is branding this thing “Trumpapalooza.”
One GOP consultant told reporters, flat out, “it’s not a real convention… it’s just this grifter free-for-all.”
And that’s someone still inside the party saying that.
State parties aren’t hiding it either — they’ve said outright this convention exists to refill their campaign accounts before a brutal midterm. Trump gets his stage. The party gets the cash. And the people footing the bill are the same supporters who’ve been told for a decade that he’s the one cleaning up Washington.
Attendees can pay $20,000 to attend as an “honorary delegate.”
In California, a “Golden VIP” ticket will get you 4 floor badges, 4 hotel rooms, hotel services and gifts — all for the low, low price of $250,000. So much for inflation, right?
It’s hardly a coincidence that Trump has been getting richer and richer since taking office.
According to reporting from The Hill, Trump has raked in an incredible $2.2 billion in his first year back in office. That’s an average of over $6 million per day, every day, and counting
He’s benefited from crypto scams, manipulated the market with insider trading, and pushed through mining deals to benefit his sons, among other things.
Many people in MAGA were once drawn to Trump’s promises to “drain the swamp.” Trump keeps making it clearer and clearer that he’s a happy swamp creature.
This is a real point of contention for former supporters, people in doubt, and those ready to be persuaded. Why is it that our lives are getting harder to afford, while Trump keeps getting richer?
We have the opportunity to get through to people, because Trump’s lies are as clear as day.
