It’s September 16th, and a lot of us are thinking about the state of our country and how we can improve it, for all our sakes.
Apparently not so for Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.
Today, he canceled the scheduled votes on the House’s calendar.
He’s decided he simply has better things to do. Such as impeding democracy.
So now, the men and women in our House of Representatives are in recess until after Election Day.

Canceling Thursday’s votes means Republicans are punting on Rep. Thomas Massie’s resolution to impeach Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
It’s more than clear that Hegseth is unfit to serve.
However, Republicans already know that Rep. Massie won’t be returning to his seat after election day; he lost his Republican primary to a MAGA-loyalist challenger.
Johnson is playing political games to protect Hegseth. This is yet another betrayal of the democratic process that is supposed to represent the American people.
No matter who you voted for, you should respect the democratic processes that our founders enshrined in the Constitution. This isn’t that.
While Washington hits pause, our work on the ground doesn’t stop.
This week, I’ve been busy in North Carolina, where people are more than ready to hear our message. We held multiple packed events where I shared my story, signed copies of my memoir, One Betrayal Too Many, and answered questions from the crowd.

Even in deep red states and areas, people are fed up with Trump and his MAGA allies. They’re tired of the lies, the grift, the corruption, and the cheating. They can’t make ends meet — and it’s obvious that those campaign promises about “affordability” were nothing but castles in the sky.

We have a new billboard in North Carolina, and your support can help us expand our reach, giving us hope that we can connect with more people across the state and in every community where we’ve put them up.
We have just a few weeks left — 48 days — to make sure we reach all 50 states before people vote.
Thanks for being with us on this odyssey,
Rich
