Last week in Delray Beach, Florida, Leaving MAGA drew one of its largest crowds ever, and when it was over, people rushed the table for books and signatures.
A local Indivisible group hosted an evening about Leaving MAGA and my memoir One Betrayal Too Many: Why I Left MAGA, and 300 people showed up.
It wasn’t a virtual call or a webinar. This was three hundred people in a room, in the same space, feeling the same thing at the same time: hope.

The demand for my memoir was so intense that I had someone next to me handing out copies while I signed and talked to as many people as I could. It was chaotic in the best possible way.
One Betrayal Too Many is the story of my seven years inside MAGA, what I was willing to overlook to stay in the movement, and the difficult road I took climbing out.
It opens with a foreword by former Congressman Adam Kinzinger, who calls it a story told “with great honesty, forthrightness, and most importantly, humility.”
Former Congressman Joe Walsh describes it as “a blueprint for those in MAGA who can no longer justify the lies of Donald Trump.” It is written from the inside, not the outside, which is exactly why it reaches people that other books cannot.
This is what the movement looks like right now. People are looking for a community, for language to describe what they’ve been feeling, and for permission to say out loud that they’ve had enough. They found all of that in Delray Beach last week, and they can find it where you are, too.
